Be part of the all-volunteer team making the best satire in Minnesota! Minnesota Tonight is the only late night comedy show focused on satirizing the news, politics and issues happening right here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Each taping features monologues, video segments, interviews with local luminaries, and musical guest performances, all filmed in front of an audience. Since 2015 Minnesota Tonight has created politically relevant comedy in the spirit of “The Daily Show”, entirely focused on the news and issues that hit closest to home. We are now accepting submissions for our Video Producer Position.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Minnesota Tonight is looking for a Video Producer to work other team members to film both live show footage and other pre-recorded content. We are looking for an experienced Video Producer with knowledge of sound, lighting, location scouting, and file management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Advise writers during the scripting processes, to ensure that sketches can be completed on time and on budget

• Transform scripts to videos by assembling equipment, planning shots, and overseeing both filming and video editing

• Work with writers and directors to create a shot list and acquire the needed video

• Attend our live show every 3rd Wednesday of the month at Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis

• Record the live show with high quality and professionalism

• Upload and organize files in Dropbox

• Scout locations for pre-recorded segments and maintain contacts

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in editing footage

REQUIREMENTS

• General video production experience

• Experience using sound and light equipment

• Ability to communicate effectively

• Approximately 3-10 hours of work per week.

PLUSES

• Proficient in Adobe Premiere

• Knowledge of Slack

• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator

• Experience with Motion Graphics and After Effects

• Ability to stay organized and problem solve

PAYMENT

• All 30 MNT writers, producers, filmmakers and editors are committed, unpaid volunteers. This position is likewise, unpaid.
